At ACS we value hands-on experiences and want to make learning fun. With the help of parent volunteers, every grade level has special annual events such as Pioneer Day, which included learning how to quilt, square dancing, games like pick-up sticks, and a general store where goods cost several pennies.
Our library is usually teeming with students, either visiting with their class or coming to read a book at recess. There are over 16,000 books in our collection.
The ACS Computer Lab is available for any class to sign up and use, and some middle school electives are held here. In our middle school, there are also over 80 MacBook laptops for students to use during in-class projects.
We know that the partnership with school and home is very important. ACS hosts a variety of family events such as our annual Thanksgiving Feast. It's a great way to bring families together and build on the great sense of community that we all value.
At ACS, every elementary class puts on a full length musical every year. A lot of time and effort goes into learning lines and choreography, and creating costumes and sets. All performances are open to the public. Call 408-997-0424 to learn when the next performance will be held.
The 'Rainbow Playground' is popular with our elementary students and you will often see Middle School students with their little buddies climbing all over this structure!
From 4th through 8th grade, each grade level takes an overnight field trip. The culminating experience in 8th grade is a week trip to Washington DC to see in person the places they have been learning about in History class. Other trips include Catalina Island, Yosemite, Science Camp and a camping trip to a historical gold mining camp.
The Mission of Almaden Country School is to discover the gifts in every child.
We provide a safe and affirming environment for learning--empowering children to strive, explore, and build a sense of personal value.
Our teachers create a rich academic foundation that corresponds with the developmental stages of childhood.
We offer a wide variety of opportunities for children to extend their intellectual.
social, and personal potential.
Our students become delightful people--confident, kind, concerned, and ready to make significant contributions to our world.
