School Notes

  • Doane Stuart is our region's only coeducational, Nursery through Grade 12 independent school. It is selected by our students and their parents because it provides rigorous college preparation, small class size, and a commitment to academic excellence, under the caring guidance of skilled and devoted teachers. The academic success of our students is enhanced by a commitment to service, an emphasis on leadership opportunities and a respect for others. Doane Stuart is a small school with a wide reach, offering unique partnerships within our school community and with the University at Albany, the Albany College of Pharmacy, the Albany Institute of History and Art, the Arts Center of the Capital Region and Lagan College in Northern Ireland. Aided by a very competitive tuition, our financial aid programs help to assure that a family's finances are not a serious impediment when seeking the best for their children's education. The admission process is highly selective. Our student-to-faculty ratio is 7 to 1; our average class size is 14. Over 80% of the faculty hold advanced degrees.

I could not be happier sending my 9th grade son to Doane Stuart. He came in last year transferring from another College Prep school in the area. I cannot thank you enough for all of the positive differences you have made for my son. He enjoys going to school!! My son is so much more outgoing and confident because he feels so welcome and accepted going here. The education he is getting is preparing him for his best future. Thank you Doane Stuart!
