Notes for Prospective Students

Admission Students of any race, creed, or ethnic origin are admitted to Holy Cross School`s educational program, providing they meet the academic requirements.  Equal opportunity is also given to physically challenged students provided that, with reasonable accommodation, the student can function in the school.  Preference is given to Catholic students.   Enrollment Criteria for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten: Students enrolling in Pre-Kindergarten must be 4-years-old by September 1, 2017, and students enrolling in Kindergarten must be 5-years-old by September 1, 2017.  A birth certificate is required for all students and a baptismal certificate is required for Catholic children.   Students are accepted under the following criteria: Holy Cross Parishioners with enrolled siblings Holy Cross Parishioners Non-Parishioner Catholics with enrolled siblings Non-Parishioner Catholics Non-Catholic with enrolled siblings Non-Catholics At the close of the enrollment time period (February 26, 2017), each application will be reviewed and sorted based upon the above criteria.  Accepted Kindergarten students are asked to come to Holy Cross on April 25 or April 26, 2017, for Kindergarten readiness testing.   Enrollment Criteria for 1st-8th Grades: Students entering Holy Cross School in 1st Grade and above may be required to be tested prior to admission to determine class eligibility.  A birth certificate is required for all students and a baptismal certificate is required for Catholic children.  Holy Cross School also requires report cards and standardized test scores from the last two years, a teacher recommendation, and a completed Student Release of Information form (to be used for accepted students) in conjunction with their TADS registration.  These items can be mailed, emailed (a.smith@hcross.org), or faxed (301) 949-5074 to the school office.  Usually new students are not accepted in 8th Grade unless a student is transferring from another Catholic school.   Applications are accepted via the TADS link found on our website (www.hcross.org) beginning November 11, 2016, and students are accepted on a first-come first-serve basis pending above requirements.  There is a $425 non-refundable registration fee for all applications.
