Kingdom Preparatory Academy

Kingdom Preparatory Academy (KPA) is a classical, Christian, collaborative school, organized to establish a partnership with parents.
KPA equips students for life by promoting godly character, building excellence in academics, and encouraging self-discipline and motivation.
We seek to develop the whole child academically, spiritually, emotionally, and physically through an educational format utilizing both trained classroom instruction and individualized parent involvement.KPA`s Grammar School (Pre-K through 5th grade) students attend classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, while students in the Schools of Logic & Rhetoric (6th through 12th grades) attend classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Alternate days are spent in the satellite classroom at home, working on school-directed studies with the guidance of their parents.
Grammar School K-5 students also have an option to attend enrichment classes on Fridays.
Kingdom Preparatory Academy was established to provide a new approach to education in the city of Lubbock and the surrounding West Texas area.
KPA was designed on the foundation of the Christian University-Model School (UMS), which takes the best aspects of traditional, full-time public and private schools, as well as home schools, and molds them into one model.
At KPA, parents and teachers work together to cultivate in each student a life-long love of learning and a pursuit of moral and academic excellence for the purpose of bringing glory to God alone.Kingdom Preparatory Academy originated in January 2000, when seven families, led by Jared and Dana Squires, began exploring the idea of bringing a new concept in education to Lubbock, Texas.
These families desired a Christian-based education for their children but still wanted to be an integral part of their school day.
The University-Model School appeared to be the ideal fit to accomplish the families` goals, and work began on the development of the school immediately.
Kingdom Preparatory Academy received its Certificate of Incorporation from the state of Texas on January 31, 2001, and was classified as a 501c3 nonprofit corporation by the IRS on May 3, 2002.With help from the National Association of University-Model Schools, Kingdom Preparatory Academy opened its doors on August 20, 2002, to twenty-four students in 3rd through 6th grades, with a staff of seven teachers.
It was located in downtown Lubbock at the First Presbyterian Church.
In the summer of 2004, KPA moved to a more centrally located church at 98th Street & Memphis Avenue (First Assembly of God) and experienced an immediate increase in enrollment.
Due to steady enrollment growth and need for additional classrooms, the school moved again in the summer of 2007 to its current location.
KPA has been blessed to lease space from the First Church of the Nazarene in Lubbock, Texas, for the past fourteen years.

Our daughter enrolled this year at KPA as a freshman. I cannot even begin to describe the enthusiastic welcome she received from the students and faculty. The Christ-centered education is certainly challenging, but the knowledge and wisdom gained will most likely exceed anyone's expectations. In addition to the academics, the competitive athletic teams and coaches are heavily invested in the students. In addition to outstanding academics and wonderful extracurricular opportunities, the community of parents and students will leave you wondering why you ever considered any other educational environment for your child. My only disappointment is that we did not attend kingdom preparatory academy the previous eight years!

This is our 5th year at KPA, and we couldn't be more pleased with our experience. We especially love the days home with our kids. This University style schedule is perfect for our family. The quality of education is first-rate, and I am most appreciative of the Christian fellowship and community. We are very proud of our school.

This is our fifth year to be at KPA. The academics are excellent, the teachers are highly qualified and caring, and the other families offer a wonderful community feel. I love being home with my kids on home days and being involved in their education. The athletics and extra-curricular programs are outstanding as well. I would highly recommend KPA to anyone who is looking for excellent academics, a Christian environment, and time freedom with their kids.

We have been at KPA for many years and are nothing but thankful for the environment it has provided for our children. They are getting a top-notch education in addition to a life-giving community of friends and teachers where they can grow spiritually and emotionally. The staff and administration care deeply for the students and we have always felt extremely blessed to have our kids in their care. I know that my children are receiving a well-rounded experience at Kingdom Prep and am forever thankful for the fruit we reap as a result.

My wife is a teacher and so I have seen the "behind the scenes" work of the Administration to equip and train their teachers. They are diligent to create a culture that works to fulfill their mission of academic excellence as they prepare their students with a Christian worldview. Now that my son is a student, we see the benefits of the effort first hand. I cannot imagine a better place to see a student flourish in and environment of academic excellence, loving community and Christian worldview. KPA is second to none!

We have had two kids in KPA from elementary to junior high (currently) and we have had a great experience at each level. It is a close community that tries to keep the unique classic Christian education principles at the forefront and has many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activity with many sports choices. Also, many elective choices to broaden the education experience in areas of interest. Though there has been huge growth in students over our time the last 8 years, the school has maintained a high level of communication/partnership with parents on a regular basis. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a private school education.
