Notes for Prospective Students
Linden Waldorf School welcomes families who are interested in
committing to the pursuit of a Waldorf education for their children
in grades pre-school through eighth. By eighth grade, students will
have completed a rigorous academic curriculum, rich in global and
cultural contexts, science and math (physics, chemistry, math,
pre-algebra or algebra I), language arts, Spanish, chorus,
instruction in a musical instrument (orchestral stringed
instrument, recorder, flute, Orff), woodworking (grades 4 and up),
handwork (all grades), movement, games, and group sports, and
abundant outdoor time on a 12-acre campus. Individualized placement
counseling is offered to assist eighth graders with successful
matriculation to high school. For admission, adherance to LWS
Family Handbook and Policies and Procedures is required. Families
are asked to restrict or limit screen time for students at home.
Students may not have cell phones or digital devices at school.
Adherence to dress code is required. Students participate in
seasonal school festivals as part of the curriculum. Participation
in music and movement classes is mandatory. Linden Waldorf
School is designed to meet the needs of children with an average
and above average range of intellectual, emotional, and physical
needs who do not present significant or persistent learning
differences or challenges. While our approach appears to offer
benefits to students with learning challenges (education through
multiple modalities and emphases on art and music), it has been our
experience that the children who thrive in our environment are
those who enjoy learning, do well in an auditory learning
environment, are responsive to artistically rendering what has been
presented orally in the lessons, can work independently and
collaboratively in groups, and can accept responsibility.
Other school requirements as specified upon enrollment.
