The Plymouth-Canton Music Boosters routinely raise about $100,000 a year to support the school district's marching band program. And they don't do it by selling pizza, cookie dough or wrapping paper.

Choir concert A choir from the Red Bird Mission High School in Beverly, Ky., will sing with a mountain dulcimer group, as well as perform short drama skits and sell items made at the mission, 7 p.m. today, at First United Methodist Church of Mount Clemens, 57 Southbound Gratiot Ave., free-will offering accepted, Michael Emshwiller at (586) 468-6464 ext. 25.

Children at Immanuel Lutheran School in Macomb are learning at a young age to help those less fortunate. Instead of buying their teacher, Shirley Leidecker, a Christmas gift, students were asked to donate money toward a special project that would help others and teach them valuable life lessons.
