    MARSHALL Mary Surprenant and Kari Buysse have learned communication is key when you share a job teaching, especially when the kids try to pull one over on you. The duo have shared duties teaching third grade at Holy Redeemer School since the beginning of the school year.     Area communities will honor veterans on Veterans Day on Wednesday, with help from the veterans themselves. Most of the programs will take place at local schools, and the public is welcome to attend.     MARSHALL - Church goers wouldn't have seen a woman's head during mass at Holy Redeemer in the 1960s because a woman's head would have been covered, one member recalled. "The teaching of the church prior to the mid-60s was if you were a female you had to have your head covered," Larry Doom, a member of Holy Redeemer for 40 years, said, adding the rule had its roots in the Bible.

    MARSHALL - Kindergarteners went through a rite of passage at Holy Redeemer School on Friday morning when parents and schoolmates gathered for the 2009 kindergarten graduation prayer service. Holy Redeemer has conducted kindergarten graduation for at least 25 years, said Principal Carol DeSmet.

    MARSHALL - Third graders at Holy Redeemer School not only got to put on a puppet show Monday, they got to make the puppets they operated and write the script. The third-graders have been unleasing their creativity in this manner for about 10 years, said Sheryl Kaiser, one of their teachers.

    Marshall Area Christian School will present its spring musical, "The Pirates of the I Don't Care-ibbean" in three performances this week. A matinee for Holy Redeemer School and Boulder Estates is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Other performances are set for 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday in MACS' gym. Appearing in the show will be 67 students.
