Christian Brothers Academy's cross country team had little difficulty defending its Monmouth County championship on Oct. 20. As their lofty national ranking (No. 5 by Marc Bloom's The Harrier) would indicate, the Colts were the class of the field. Christian Brothers Academy didn't run its full squad at Saturday's Shore Coaches Invitational. The nationally ranked Colts didn't have to as they marched to another championship in the Varsity A race at Holmdel Park. The Monmouth Civic Chorus, Red Bank, has announced the winners of its annual vocal scholarships for New Jersey high school seniors. Edward Donovan, Lincroft section of Middletown, received a $300 second-place award. A baritone, he is a senior at Mater Dei High School, New Monmouth section of Middletown. - NOTES (Independent)

St. John's United Methodist Church, 2000 Florence Ave., Hazlet, will hold a clothing drive 4-7 p.m. May 29, and 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. May 30.
