    HOLMDEL — Chalkboards and dusty erasers will become a thing of the past at the St. Benedict School in Holmdel. Eight wall-mounted SMART Boards were installed over the summer for the 2009-10 school year. The interactive whiteboards, which mimic the design of a movie screen, contain a projector, control panels and speakers that connect to a laptop.

    The Matawan Borough Department of Recreation will host the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Bonnet Contest April 4 at 11 a.m., with a rain date of April 5, at Terhune Park on South St. Children between the ages of two and ten are invited to hunt for Easter eggs decked out in their finest bonnets for a morning of fun and prizes.

  • Nonpublic schools may lose busing (Independent)

    Starting this fall, students traveling to nonpublic schools will most likely not receive transportation on the district's dime. According to a Jan. 23 letter from Holmdel Township School District Superintendent Barbara Duncan, "Effective Sept. 1, the district will only make aid-in-lieu payments and no longer provide busing for nonpublic school students.
