THE 2008 GIRLS high school volleyball season was a banner year for Marin teams, seven of which reached the North Coast Section playoffs and two of which - Marin Catholic and Marin Academy - earned NCS championship pennants to display in its gyms.

The Rotary Club of Novato has honored 19 local teachers for excellence in teaching. Each received a plaque and a $200 check from the club, with the stipulation that they could only spend the money on themselves.
