    For once, not seeing the forest for the trees was beneficial. In fact, the 35 arborists who volunteered yesterday to spruce up Rockbridge Academy's historic Belvoir property in Crownsville didn't see just "trees" at all - they saw a copper beech, weeping cherries and a persimmon.

    Kaileigh Ducharme pitched two scoreless innings as the Mayo Mustangs (2-0) defeated the Southern Bulldogs (1-1), 21-7 in girls U14 action. Mayo was led by Christi Ducharme, who went 4-for-5 with two doubles and Abby Cannon, who scored four runs.

    Grandparents of all ages filled the multi-purpose cafeteria and gym at Millersville Elementary School and poured out into the lobby early Wednesday morning, sipping coffee from disposable cups and waiting to visit their grandchildren in their classrooms.
