The Prairie Learning Center provides a high quality, therapeutic group experience designed to help at-risk youth examine and modify their behavior.
The goal of the Prairie Learning Center is to provide each student the opportunity to develop a core of basic life skills.
The objectives of our program are to teach social control, socially acceptable time management, and to develop a positive self-image.
Prevention, intervention, independent life skills training and the use of the outdoors as a stepping stone to success, are the core of the PLC approach.
The program is designed for adolescents with out-of-control, antisocial or delinquent behavior.
The Prairie Learning Center operates under the belief that individuals who are committing antisocial acts are doing so as a matter of choice.
They devote their energies to overpowering others to serve their own purposes.
They have had "one more chance" too many times. They have a strong sense of entitlement and often portray themselves as victims when they are actually victimizing and abusing others.
They lack the necessary effort or motivation for productive activities such as school and employment.
These adolescents have exhibited rebellious, irresponsible behavior in their families and in their communities.
