This Open House for grades 5 through 12 is a great chance to explore campus and to meet teachers, students, and administrators. Our Open House is a structured program designed to give families a peek into all our major disciplines.

1:00-1:30pm: Welcome & Program Overview
This is your family’s chance to hear from key administrators and current students. Music groups will perform to give you a glimpse into what our extracurricular programs have to offer.

1:30-3:10pm: Department Presentations

Middle School and Upper School families divide up into groups to explore mini-lessons. This is a great opportunity to get to know our teachers, their teaching styles, and the classroom dynamic at NYA. Both Middle and Upper School families will have a chance to ask our current students and parents questions during a panel at the end of these presentations.

Sample Middle School Programs have included: “Ice Alert, Abandon Ship!” – English & History. NYA Passport: Around the World in Fifteen Minutes. Examining Probability and River Chemistry – Math & Science. Sparking the Fire of Creativity with Fun – Fine Arts.

Sample Upper School Programs have included: Conflicting Views of America in the 1930’s: Critical Thinking in the English & History Department. NYA Passport: Around the World in Fifteen Minutes. Waldo’s Cellular & Stellar Adventure: A Sampling of Math & Science. A Culture of Creativity – Fine Arts.

3:15-4:00pm: Department Fair & Reception

Faculty will be present to answer your individual questions about NYA’s curriculum, athletics, visual & performing arts programs and our other offerings.

This Open House event is for families interested in our Lower School, 18-months to grade 4. Come explore our beautifully renovated Lower School! The classrooms will be open, and our teachers look forward to introducing you to their unique program and materials. There will be opportunities to take a guided tour of the rest of NYA’s campus and the afternoon concludes with questions and answers at a reception with teachers and current parents.
