My son enrolled at R. T. Hudson School of SDA in 2020/2021 - during the fully virtual learning period of the Covid-19 pandemic, and to be fair to everyone (administration, faculty, and students), I trusted that each did their best to teach and learn given the "less than level playing field." Objectively and realistically, every school has its share of negatives. I`ve given thought to recount the positives and benefits of my child`s experience for the school calendar year of 2021/2022 and have decided to post those instead of the negatives. Having devotion and Bible class at the start of each day is "a certain plus" that will rival any school curriculum because we are preparing our children for eternity as well as to be the best citizens of this world, but first and foremost to begin each day with God. Teaching our children to begin their day with God is a matchless example! My son effectively benefited by gaining more Bible knowledge and increased understanding of the Word. Because of this, he grew spiritually. Regarding social and interpersonal exchanges with the student body and adults, although all not initially welcomed, my son benefited from the experience of some of the challenges, because he came to know himself better and how to navigate obstacles. This growth is important for any child as our children need to be good decision-makers. That being said, my son made weighty mistakes, and I`m pleased to observe that he learned from them to a greater extent. Maturing is not a pain-free process. Almost all of the adults demonstrated genuine care, attention, affection, firm correction with tenderness/encouragement, and provided edifying object lessons for my child. I know this because my son shared fair, kind, and complimentary words about those adults. It is they who exemplified Christ at best and left an indelible portrayal in my son's memory for years to come. I am grateful to them for enhancing my son`s life and being a part of his personal growth and development and journey. My son especially liked the Cooking/Baking class in the Life Skills program and eagerly looked forward to it weekly. He didn`t want to leave Art class either whenever it was time to leave. It is easy to list negatives and sadly they don't gather dust; they snowball. I hope that this review encourages - especially those who are easily attracted to the negative or to those who seek a critical critique. From the high to the low and the in-between, God has our children like a mother hen even when it may not feel like it. When we reflect on the tapestry, sometimes we see something positively different that we didn`t see along the journey. "Thank You" to every teacher at R. T. Hudson and "Thank You, God" for being alongside every student, too. (It appears as if this platform defaults to "Endorse this school:" with five stars indicated/selected.)
