Notes for Prospective Students

Summit was founded in 1989 by Jane Snider, Ed.D., as a co-ed, not-for-profit school for bright students with dyslexia and other learning differences.
Our students are often diagnosed with learning disabilities by specialists in the field.
At Summit, our preference is to view those disabilities as differences because we emphasize the gifts each student brings, help them reach their potential, as well as remediate their skills.
The school offers a mainstream curriculum in a supportive environment with programs tailored to individual learning styles.
Highly skilled teaching professionals cultivate each child's strengths using a multi- sensory approach to foster literacy and interactive learning. Outside the classroom, students participate in a wide range of activities including athletics, student government, clubs and community service programs.
Summit students successfully transition to area mainstream high schools and often are role models for their peer group.
The Summit School educates children with unique learning styles to their full potential.
The Summit School envisions a future for students in which they mature into self-sufficient, self-advocating and successful adults despite their learning challenges.
