Notes for Prospective Students

St. Andrew's Country Day School serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade.
The school has continually placed its educational emphasis on cultivating all aspects of a child's development, including religious, academic, social, emotional, and physical areas.
This is accomplished in a Christian atmosphere characterized by human dignity, respectfulness, creativity, acceptance, understanding, and high ethical and moral standards. Respect, responsibility and resourcefulness are fostered throughout the school by staff, whose goal it is to teach values by example. The students will grow in their awareness of the world in which they live and of each one's role in that world.
The educational goals for St.Andrew's Country Day School are based upon a total commitment by the home, school and student.
Our educational goals are based upon the skills, knowledge and attitudes considered essential for our students to become contributing members of society.
It is our intent to offer an educational environment in which each student develops Catholic ideals and also acquires an education commensurate with his/her individual interests, needs and abilities.
This will be accomplished in a Christian atmosphere characterized by humaneness, respectfulness, creativity, acceptance, total understanding and high ethical and moral standards.
St. Andrew's is, in fact, the ONLY school in the Northeast to employ Modern Socratic Teaching Techniques.
These techniques were developed and designed to teach children HOW to learn.
Test results in independent studies and state standardized exams substantiate the claim of accelerated learning.
Most current testing results reveal that 94% of all 3-8 students earned a 3/4 in NYS Standards Testing.
Independent testing, utilizing the Terra Nova Battery, indicate an average accelerated growth rate of 4.4 G.E.levels per grade.
Simply stated, 3rd Graders are testing out at the 7th grade level, 4th graders at the 8th grade level, and so on up to 8th graders testing out at the 12th grade level.
We are entering our third year of the project and anticipate even better results! There can be no better value for your education dollar than the accelerated learning of each child and all the opportunities that it affords.
