The need for a genuinely different, research-​​based, cutting edge secondary school model fit for the 21st century is critical.

is demon­strably poor and not improving.
  • Current educa­tion reform efforts (like those in past decades) do not contain the solution.
  • Huge discon­nects exist between the persisting tradi­tional secondary school model and the real­i­ties, chal­lenges, and oppor­tu­ni­ties of today’s world.
  • Even the best public and private schools employ outdated, inef­fi­cient educa­tional methods and are not designed to prepare today’s youth for success in tomorrow’s (21st century) world.
  • The future of our country depends on providing our chil­dren with a more rele­vant and effec­tive secondary education.
  • School for Tomorrow (SFT) was founded in response to this crit­ical need for change in secondary educa­tion. We are committed to serving as a model for others – grounded in research, committed to flex­i­bility in instruc­tion and the learning envi­ron­ment, and ulti­mately based on the inherent right of each student to learn in a way that best suits him or her.

    Research and educa­tional philos­ophy over the last half century informs our under­standing of psychology, neural devel­op­ment, and the learning process itself.

    Most schools continue to educate according to outdated models devel­oped during the period of rapid indus­tri­al­iza­tion in the 19th and 20th centuries.
    On the other hand, we rely on the up-​​to-​​date research and best prac­tices that have been veri­fied and demon­strated to be successful.

    At SFT every­thing we’re doing is derived from two basic questions:

    • What does a high school grad­uate need to know and be able to do to thrive in college, the work­place and life in the coming decades?
    • What are the most effi­cient and effec­tive ways for students in general, and each student in partic­ular, to master every­thing needed to thrive throughout their lives?
