Notes for Prospective Students
How are scholars selected for admission to the school?
The admissions identification process has established multiple criteria based on researched behaviors of gifted learners. No cut-off score is used in the admissions process, although E.A. Young Academy seeks to admit gifted, talented, and high-ability scholars.
The final decision on admission to E.A. Young Academy is determined by the Admissions Committee's evaluation of several factors:
- Application for Admission
- Parent Assessment and Perspectives
- Scholar Self Assessment and Perspectives
- Teacher Evaluation
- Transcripts and/or Portfolio
Admissions 1st – 8th Grade – Beginning School Year 2013-2012:
E.A. Young Academy admits scholars of any race, color, creed, sex, or national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made to scholars at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, or national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
Those entering 1st through 8th grade may apply to be admitted to the school beginning Sept 1, 2012 for the 2013-2014 school year. Limited space is available for grades 3rd - 7th for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Should we receive more applications than we have space available, all applicants for each oversubscribed grade level will be entered into a random lottery process to determine admission.
