Futures/Halstrom High School Online
School Notes Overview:
Halstrom High School students achieve academic success, build positive self-concepts, and develop appreciation for learning through personalized instruction in a caring environment. Halstrom High SchoolŪ staff, students and families have discussed and adopted five Expected School-wide Learning Results. Each Halstrom graduate must present a senior portfolio that demonstrates mastery of each ESLR prior to graduation. Learning is a personal experience. Optimum learning occurs when instruction focuses on the individual's strengths, interests and rate of progress. Each student is gifted in at least one area. Their gifts may be linguistic, musical, logical-mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, and intra-personal. Rather than finding an educational program that your child can fit into, we create a program that fits your child. Oftentimes, school programs actually prevent our children from pursuing their gifts due to schedule, curriculum structure and the homogenous nature of group learning. Students enjoy learning when they are active participants in the learning process. By actively seeking student participation in the education process, students develop responsibility and enthusiasm for learning. Learning is no longer restricted to school, but rather becomes integrated into all activities. The Halstrom's program allows students to set their own pace and schedule. Personalized schedules allow time for family, employment, volunteer service, sports and social activities which help them excel, both academically and socially....
