School Notes Overview: |
Ridgewood Preparatory School was founded in 1948 as a college preparatory school for boys. The school became co-educational in 1952. Ridgewood is approved by the State Department of Education and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The school is organized as a primary school, middle school, and high school. The school year consists of two semesters, each divided into three grading periods. Ridgewood is a small school with many of the offerings found in larger schools. Our philosophy is to provide a total education to help form the complete individual. Each child's education is provided in a safe and caring environment. Our faculty focuses on fulfillment of goals like growth in intellectual skills; awareness of physical and social environments; deepened appreciation of aesthetics, philosophy, and religion; and responsible participation in home, school, and community. Preparation for occupational choice, usually at the professional level. To promote the development of the total person, Ridgewood offers a comprehensive guidance program under the direction of the guidance counselor. Academic, personal, and college counseling is available and age appropriate classes and programs are conducted for all grades. ...read more
