School Notes:
Class sizes are small, enabling academic cohesiveness while also accommodating individual academic needs. Standards of excellence are fostered in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere that encourages all students to succeed. An enrollment of approximately 120 students enables The Academy to provide individualized attention to students and close communication with parents. The limited class size ensures that no child has concerns or issues that go unnoticed.
The school has a warm family atmosphere. Its community is diverse – ethnically, culturally, and socio-economically – and this range of ideas and experiences is celebrated at the school every day. Students get to know each other across age and background differences to build a tight community, and many friendships are formed that last well beyond their years at The Academy. Many of our former students return for annual or special events and stay in close touch with the school years after they have moved on.
At The Academy, parents are always welcome in the classroom. We encourage mothers and fathers to participate in their children's daily activities. Teachers maintain an ongoing and open line of communication regarding student progress. Parents receive regular report cards, ERB test results, and attend individual parent-teacher conferences. Equally important are the informal conversations that take place every day among teachers, parents and students.
