School Notes Overview: |
Since 1961, the German School Washington, D.C. unites European traditions and values with American dynamics to give young people the ideal foundation for the future in a global world.
Because of our proximity to the U.S. capital, we can offer our students a truly unique environment. Lectures and presentations by high-ranking diplomats, politicians, authors and scientists during the weekly Lecture Series are just as much part of it, as are visits to various embassies, world-class museums and the participation at a Model United Nations meeting for teenagers in Washington, D.C. The teaching philosophy is based on and incorporates the latest technological, scientific, cultural and pedagogical developments. The excellent bilingual education – which leads to university access in Europe and the United States – is completed by holistic learning and the development of the whole person. Respect and mutual understanding are not empty words here, but a part of daily life.
Of course, athletics, theater and many extracurricular activities also belong to the school life. We have our own indoor swimming pool, three gymnasiums, an outdoor sports area, as well as a stage and an auditorium for theater productions and presentations.
Our students, parents and teachers know that the world does not end in the classroom – it only begins there.
