School Notes Overview:

The Naval Academy Primary School is dedicated to providing preschool and elementary school eduation in a nurturing environment at a reasonable cost for children of persons eligible for membership in the Association. Small structured classes, rarely exceeding 18 students per teacher, promote close interaction between teachers and children. Small classes also provide flexibility to adapt individual lessons to challenge each child at his/her ability level. Teachers work with the students in all areas of development. The preschool program provides children ages 3 to 5 with a positive school experience in a nurturing atmosphere. The formal academic curriculum begins in kindergarten. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade benefit from a well-rounded curriculum, including language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, art, music, French (except for kindergarten), library, and computer skills.     Lt. Cmdr. Gene Severtson, 33, was looking forward to his 10th marathon at the Marine Corps Marathon and hoping for a different result from what he experienced at Boston earlier this year. In his 18 years of competitive running, he had never experienced the "runner's high" that we often hear about.

  • Baltimore festival sustains good thing (The Capital)

    The ninth running of the Baltimore Running Festival (marathon/half marathon, marathon relay and 5K) was held last Saturday. The 1984 version of this race was my first marathon, with Satyr Hill, Loch Raven, et al; so I have a soft spot for the event.
