School Reviews

We could not give a higher review of Eaglebrook. Our son chose Eaglebrook because he was excited by the ski hill, the electives, and the feeling on campus. This choice was life-changing for him, and letting him go was one of the best parenting decisions we've ever made.In a nutshell, Eaglebrook gets boys. They understand what they need and focus on raising boys to have honor, kindness, compassion, responsibility, a strong work ethic, and a connection to the outdoors. Academically, wow, the teachers are excellent. The classes are rigorous; they expect a lot from the boys, but with classes of 8-10, they take the boys with them so that they can do a higher level of work. For example, when writing research papers, they break it down into chunks; on the first day, they write an outline; on day two, the intro paragraph, etc. Eaglebrook understands that education is about more than academics. All boys are engaged in exercise and outdoor endeavors seven days per week. The coaches are amazing, and the boys push themselves athletically, which helps them in every aspect of their lives. They also provide creative outlets for boys. There are so many classes (stained glass, ceramics, woodworking, 3D printing, etc.) where boys can make sweet gifts for their families. (I love that Eaglebrook knows that boys of this age love to make gifts for their families.) There are many places for boys to find passion: music, the arts, journalism, robotics, etc. The boys join many clubs and activities, which helps them feel pride, leadership, and individuality. Socially, our son has gotten a worldwide education. His roommate is a very sweet boy from China, and our son has friends from South Korea, Egypt, Mexico, Florida, Massachusetts, and Colorado. How lucky is he that he gets to understand and make connections with nice boys from all over the world? The atmosphere of the school is kind. It's a break from the classic tough middle school where kids are fighting to get to the top. The most significant award they give at Eaglebrook is to the kindest student at the end of the year. They reward compassion and empathy, and that attitude is one of the factors that makes Eaglebrook so unique. In this day and age, kids are so connected to their technology. Eaglebrook is a break from that! Kids spend most of their hours with other kids, doing incredible things. While my son's friends at home were spending a school holiday playing video games, our son climbed the ski hill and built a ski shed. All the boys learn CPR and must give a speech to the entire school. Eaglebrook made the secondary school admissions process much more manageable. Our son and his friends were all accepted to the schools that they loved. You can see why. If I were a secondary school, I would really value what Eaglebrook has done for these boys academically, socially, and empathetically.
