Grades: 6 - 12 | 73 students
The Youth Villages-Germaine Lawrence Campus provides the highest quality residential treatment to seriously emotionally and behaviorally troubled girls ages 12-18.
Many of the girls we help have experienced trauma and may have trouble at home, in school and in the community.
Our highly trained staff is equipped to help girls with serious behavioral challenges and compounding issues, such as eating disorders, diabetes, cognitive challenges, drug or alcohol abuse and firesetting behavior. Many of the girls we help are struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harming behavior, a history of abuse, neglect, abandonment or sexual exploitation.
Girls receive a combination of individual, family and group therapy and live in a structured therapeutic milieu that incorporates the Re-ED treatment model into the daily routine. Clinical staff have received training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, among others, to provide girls with histories of trauma and signs of post-traumatic stress disorder the unique clinical support they need.      Girls have access to a wide range of extracurricular and experiential therapy activities that may include therapeutic recreation activities, art, craft-making, journaling, outings to a ropes course, playgrounds, museums and more.
Girls also have the chance to participate in the campus' own culinary training program and to participate in therapeutic support groups as well as a rich summer program complete with a variety of volunteer opportunities in the community.
The Youth Villages-Germaine Lawrence Campus also provides girls with the chance to transition into one of our community-based programs to help them ease back into their homes and communities or to help them transition successfully into independent adulthood.
Our goal is to help girls to learn the skills they need to successfully return to the community as quickly as possible.

School Notes:

The Youth Villages-Germaine Lawrence Campus provides a high teacher and support staff-to-student ratio to help girls with serious emotional and behavioral issues find success in the classroom and catch up academically. Individual attention and after-hours tutoring provides additional support to girls. Teachers are trained to accomodate students with cognitive challenges.
Our Day School accepts girls whose behaviors are too disruptive for a regular classroom, helping them adjust to the classroom environment and receive the help they need to learn more successful behavior patterns. Day School students live at home but attend the campus school during the day. Day students may either work on academic materials provided by their school district or participate in the campus school curriculum.

School Reviews

Great school! I was there from 1985-87 and learned many life skills. I hear much has changed since I was there. Young girls need the kind of care/supervision this school can provide.
