School Notes Overview: |
Southfield’s mission is to provide experiences which will help each girl during her formative years to develop not only mental and physical skills but desirable social, moral, and spiritual attitudes, habits, appreciations, and ideals, to the end that she may make positive contributions as a member of society. The faculty work with the girls to build foundations that will support them in the myriad challenges they will face in school and in life. Southfield also addresses the development of character. The School prayers, which are recited at weekly Chapel, remind students to “stand for the hard right against the easy wrong.” The prayers also honor the virtue of doing “a little good every day” and acting to make others “a little happier and a little better for our influence.” Each of these lessons is reinforced by the Chapel speaker and modeled daily by the words and deeds of the faculty and staff in the classrooms and on the playing fields. ...read more
