    Michigan State hopes its blowout against Western Michigan will help propel the Spartans to beat Purdue in the coming week and then finish strong to have a chance at a bowl berth. Saturday’s 49-14 pounding of the Broncos evened out Michigan State’s record at 5-5. After Purdue, the Spartans will close out the regular season at home against nationally ranked Penn State.

    Since a roadside bomb exploded Oct. 28, severely injuring U.S. Marine Sgt. Cory Gritter, the 22-year-old Graafschap man has been surrounded by prayers.
