John Tyler Morgan Academy was founded by citizens of Dallas County who recognized the need for a school where young people would be motivated to learn and participate in a variety of extracurricular and athletic activities. Students of Morgan Academy are motivated by a staff of professionals who seek to prepare them for college, for the responsibilities of citizenship, and for life. Additionally, Morgan students are encouraged to develop initiative and independence. Morgan provides a quality education for boys and girls of average or above average intelligence. Morgan has an accelerated curriculum and uses only grade level and advanced textbooks.     SELMA – Two months ago, Sophie Talton auditioned to dance with the Montgomery Ballet’s Selma production of Sleeping Beauty. “I’ve been doing ballet for five or six years,” Talton said. “I did the Nutcracker last year and it was so much fun. I wanted to do something with them again.”

    SELMA — John T. Morgan Academy now has one more reason to celebrate with school spirit. The school was recently honored with the President’s Award from the Alabama Independent School Association.

    Dallas County Health Officer Ashvin Parikh said there are no confirmed cases of swine flu in the area. Rumors that a student at John T. Morgan Academy had the illness are untrue, according to the school’s counselor.

    Forty-one Senator seniors entered the old Morgan gymnasium to Sir Edward William Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance” on Friday night and left shortly after as the 2009 Morgan Academy class of graduates.
