Renaissance Montessori Center
School Notes Overview:
Renaissance Montessori Center preschool and kindergarten has a well-balanced program to assist the growth of each child into a healthy, independent, interesting, and intelligent person. The fundamental principle is that each child learns at his/her own pace. Lessons and activities are presented in large and small groups or on an individual basis. The Montessori philosophy also respects and promotes children teaching one another and learning from one another. The multi-grade classroom, of children from 3 to 6 years of age, provides ample opportunity for older children to reinforce their own skills and knowledge by teaching younger children. The curriculum at Renaissance Montessori Center is based upon the educational principles developed by Dr. Maria Montessori during her many years of work with children. These principles are now promoted by the educational research organization, which she founded, the Association Montessori Internationale. Teachers trained by the AMI have had an intensive year-long course in the use of Montessori materials, the psychology of growth and development in the young child focusing in particular on Montessori's discoveries and insights, and most importantly, the educational philosophy by which Montessori unites and invigorates the educational process....
