School Notes:

  • Holy Trinity Catholic School is a regional Catholic school, with our campus located in the heart of Winsted. Although most of our students live in Winsted, we attract students from a 40-mile radius because of our strong reputation of being an academically excellent, faith-filled and affordable parochial school. Our elementary and high school buildings are connected and across the street from our parish church. A $2 million capital campaign is nearly finished to build a brand new elementary school, which will also be connected to our high school. This close proximity of our buildings allows a family atmosphere among our students and staff and also enables our administration to be good stewards of our resources. The Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (MNSAA) certifies that Holy Trinity Catholic School is a member of the association in good standing and is entitled to the rights and privileges of an accredited school as defined by the constitution, by-laws, and policies of the association. MNSAA is an accrediting agency recognized by the State of Minnesota, and is a member of the National Federation of Nonpublic School State Accrediting Association. All of our teachers, K-12, are professionally licensed and hold advanced degrees. Holy Trinity Catholic School partners with God to create the whole student. Our mission is to provide a Catholic, faith-centered, spiritual community which guides and educates our children in faith and academics in preparation for the challenges of today's world. A wide range of academic subjects and extracurricular activities are offered. Holy Trinity Catholic High School students are prepared for the next stage in their life by a rigorous required schedule of classes including English, mathematics, social studies, science, and religion. In addition, they enjoy a wide selection of elective courses including Spanish, accounting, pottery, architectural drawing, photography, and physics. Our grading scale is rigorous as well, with A = 93-100%, B = 86-92% and C=78-85% and our A Honor Roll is truly an honor as students must achieve a 3.5 or higher GPA and the B Honor Roll at 3.0 to 3.4 GPA. Our grading scales’ intent is to ensure that our students are academically prepared to succeed in any secondary education they choose. Every student is encouraged to join in extracurricular programs and each student can fully participate in almost any activity they would like, due to our smaller size. Holy Trinity Catholic School offers girls and boys the opportunity to compete in a number of sports. The Trojan football team competes in the Gopher Valley Conference and the volleyball, baseball, softball, basketball, cross country and track teams compete in the Minnesota Christian Athletic Association (MCAA). In addition, we offer extra-curricular activities such as Knowledge Bowl, One-Act Play, Chess Club, economics challenge, and yearbook, as well as many others. Community service is one of the cornerstones of our culture and of our student’s educational experience. In order to graduate from Holy Trinity High School, students must complete volunteer hours for the community. 7-8th graders must complete 1 hour per quarter, 9-10th graders complete 2 hours per quarter and 11-12th graders are required to give four hours of their time per quarter in service to the community. In an average school year, that alone totals 1,000 hours in student community service. In addition, the school annually holds a fall and spring service day and provides raking, painting and general cleaning for the residents of Winsted. Holy Trinity Catholic School also offers Tiny Trojans preschool. Our preschool program is a wonderful way to introduce pre-kindergartners to school in a safe, Christian-based atmosphere. We also offer the Holy Trinity Childcare Center, which is open prior to school and after school and gives parents who work outside of the home a safe and affordable place for their children to be supervised. Holy Trinity Catholic School is committed to remaining an affordable parochial school. Elementary school tuition for the 2005-06 school year is just $1,650 and high school tuition is only $2,975. However, since the true cost of educating each student is substantially higher, the school is greatly supported by the parishioners of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In addition, each year the school benefits from fundraisers such as the Winstock Country Music Festival, the Higher Ground Christian Music Festival, the Spring Fling Dinner Auction and donations from alumni and friends of the school. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation in support of Holy Trinity Catholic School, please contact the Development Office at 320-485-2182 x2777. Each of us only has one opportunity to educate our children. If you are considering Holy Trinity Catholic School for your family, please visit our website at winstedholytrinity.org and call the Development Office for a personal tour or for a packet of more information. Applications for enrollment are now being accepted and tuition assistance is available. We invite you to become a part of the Holy Trinity family!
