2004 -- Five years ago The Rochester Area Foundation will celebrate the 60th anniversary of its founding in 1944. The foundation was the vision of the late Harry J. Harwick, chairman of the Mayo Foundation from 1939 to 1958. There will be a gala dinner at - Shaughnessy will be honored at Minnesota football game (Post-Bulletin)

Lourdes High School activities director Marv Peters has announced the hiring of Jerome Garry as the Eagles new boys and girls head track and field coach. Garry succeeds Mike Kesler, who held the position for the past 10 - Day in history, Nov. 9 (Post-Bulletin)

1979 -- 30 years ago Northwest Airlines announced it will begin a daily service between Rochester and Phoenix. The airline will inaugurate the service with a one-way fare of $108.
