School Notes Overview:

The Lutheran High School Association of Greater Minneapolis became a reality in 1959 with the membership of nine area Lutheran congregations. A building in Minneapolis was purchased, and in the fall of 1963 Lutheran High School opened with 89 students in grades nine and ten. Each year a grade was added, and in 1966 Lutheran High School graduated its first class. A new partnership with Concordia Academy in Roseville, Minnesota began in the 2004-2005 school year, and in July 2005, Lutheran High School became Concordia Academy-Bloomington. The school retains the same programs, mascot, and school colors it had has Lutheran High School. Concordia Academy, a Lutheran school, provides Christian learning opportunities that invite spiritual growth while nurturing academic excellence. Concordia Academy-Bloomington admits students of any race, color, nationality and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school....

Glenn Rollins, principal of the new Lions Gate Academy in Richfield, began greeting new students under this banner this week at the school. The school in some respects assumes the reins of Concordia Academy Bloomington, which closed after the 2007-08 school year.

Just a few months ago, the future looked less than grim for what remained of Concordia Academy-Bloomington. In fact, there was no future at all. The students, parents and staff had already had an emotional thanksgiving-and-goodbye ceremony at the end of the 2008-09 school year.

Mayer Lutheran hosts a familiar foe for the first round of the Section 4A playoffs. Fourth-seeded LHS faces No. 13 seed Concordia Academy-Bloomington at 4:30 p.m. May 21. The Crusaders defeated the Lancers 13-3 May 12 during a busy week.
