Locals schools donate big in food drive (Austin Daily Herald)

Local schools are contributing big. Austin High School collected 12,000 pounds of food for Channel One food bank, in a drive that forced Principal Brad Bergstrom out of his office (where food was stored), before the end of last week.

The Austin area hasn't yet seen large numbers of students missing school with flu-like symptoms as some school districts have, but officials are preparing for it nonetheless.

Schools to celebrate national anthem (Austin Daily Herald)

On the Austin Catholic Elementary School playground at 9 a.m. Monday, the Pacelli High School Mixed Choral Ensemble will be singing the national anthem in a four-part harmony. This will be followed by the entire elementary school singing the anthem in unison.
