    George Laprade (right), helps two Bishop Hogan Memorial School students raise the American Flag in front of the school this (Tuesday) morning for the first day of 2009-2010 classes. According to school officials, there are 55 students in Kindergarten through eighth grades enrolled. Chillicothe R-2 students start school tomorrow (Wednesday).

    Chillicothe Municipal Utilities wants Livingston County officials to take steps to separate storm water drainage from sanitary sewer drainage at the Livingston County Courthouse. County officials are hesitant to take that step.     The city of Chillicothe is considering an ordinance which, if approved, would put the Livingston County courthouse in non-compliance. A proposal to be considered by city council members during their regular semimonthly meeting Monday night states that all properties within the city limits must comply with a previous ordinance requiring the separation of storm water drainage from sanitary sewers.

    Community members gathered to join a crusade for education at Bishop Hogan Memorial School Saturday night which featured a catered meal and a fund-raising auction to benefit Chillicothe’s only Catholic school.

    Two area students have taken top spots in a statewide poster contest sponsored by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. This year’s Missouri winner was Robert Rupp, a fifth-grade student at Bishop Hogan Memorial School in Chillicothe, Mo. His poster will be entered in the national contest.
