School Notes

  • Curriculum St. Dominic High School is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. There are three designated computer labs and 250 computers throughout the school. Within a rotating block schedule, courses are offered on the honors, college preparatory and vocational levels. St. Dominic has a certified Learning Consultant to assist students with mild and moderate special needs. Honors classes are available throughout the four-year curriculum. College credit is available in cooperation with St. Louis University, the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Missouri Baptist University, and the St. Charles County Community College. Advanced Placement is currently available in calculus, statistics, physics, anatomy, French and Spanish. More courses will be added in the coming years. Independent Study is an option for students with special interests.
  • Athletics Coed sports offered include soccer, cross country, tennis, basketball, track & field, and golf. Sports exclusive to boys include football and baseball. Girls sports include volleyball, swimming and softball.
  • Extracurricular Activities There are a wide variety of student organizations: Student Council, National Honor Society, Peer Listeners, Librarians, Sacristans, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Outreach Club, Ambassadors, Appalachian Projects,Book Club, Spring Musical, Peer Tutoring, International Club, Math Team, Writers Guild, Future Business Leaders of America, Cheerleaders, Pommers, National Honor Art Society, Pep Club, Pro-Life Club, Liturgical Musicians, Newspaper, Yearbook, Band, Choral Ensembles and Jazz Band.

  • Graduation Requirements At least 100 hours of approved community service and participation in an overnight retreat during junior or senior year are graduation requirements. [edit] Proposed Multi-Purpose Building and Fine Arts Center The proposed addition has been designed with the Multi-Purpose Building/Gym and the Performing Arts Center as separate wings of a single facility. The Multi-Purpose Building/Gym will be a two-level, 450,000-square-foot (42,000 m2) structure. The design of the Multi-Purpose Building/Gym allows for several activities to occur at one time and provides the space needed for a comprehensive physical education curriculum, multiple athletic practices, sports contests and weight training. The Performing Arts Center will also serve as an additional venue for class Masses, class meetings and parent meetings. The existing gymnasium will be maintained for physical education classes, athletic practices and small assemblies.
