COLUMBIA – Bare feet tapped at old wooden desks and ran through plush green grass. Students from the Good Shepherd Lutheran School claimed their favorite thing about Friday was being allowed to be barefoot at school. Next fall, four seventh graders will become the first eighth-grade class at Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Columbia. The school has announced the addition of an eighth grade at the start of the 2009-2010 school year. Principal Greg Hasseldahl said the addition has been in the works since the school opened in 2002. Despite a recession that has shrunk businesses, Columbia’s Good Shepherd Lutheran School is expanding. The school will serve eighth-graders starting in the 2009-10 school year, creating one or two part-time positions for the school. The school now offers kindergarten through seventh grade.
