A campus-based health center opened Friday at Matt Kelly Elementary, providing services to hundreds of students who would otherwise likely go without basic medical care such as hearing and vision exams and treatment of chronic illnesses such as asthma.

With 25 private and public schools, the master-planned community of Summerlin offers more schools than any other Las Vegas community, according to Kevin Orrock, top division executive of The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. Many of the community's private schools rank among the best in the valley, he said.
