School Notes Overview:

Christ Lutheran School has been serving children and their families since the inception of the Preschool in 1964. The Elementary School opened its doors in 1980. Today CLS spans two campuses in Brea and Fullerton with one mission in mind - To provide an excellent education firmly grounded in Christ. The Main Campus of CLS, located on Imperial Highway in Brea, serves children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Smaller class sizes and a full-day Kindergarten program are part of what makes CLS unique. We have an additional campus in Fullerton for our Preschool students. The talents and resources of both campuses work together to grow children grounded firmly in faith and wisdom. CLS is accredited by the Western Association of School and Colleges and the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation. CLS is owned and operated by the congregation of Christ Lutheran Church, a member of the Pacific Southwest District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. Christ Lutheran School meets or exceeds the California State Standards for each grade level. Test scores from our students are consistently high in all subjects. In addition to the cores subjects, the curriculum offered at CLS includes art, music, physical education and Spanish (foreign language instruction begins at 6th grade). Students also have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities such as sports', band, choir and hand bells....

Riverside produces test materials and distributes them to The University of Iowa and manages the processing, scoring, and reporting of test results.

  • Students and teachers support 2 boys and their father, who has cancer. ()

BREA Sixth-grader Jonathan Ilten massaged his freshly buzzed scalp and said it felt "fuzzy." Classmate Zak Kadletz said his head felt "a lot lighter" after getting his long brown locks sheared. Nineteen students, mostly sixth graders, at Christ Lutheran School had their heads shaved this morning to support classmates Nick Miller, 12, and his 7-year-old brother Sam; their father lost his hair because of radiation treatments for cancer. Three sixth-grade girls even had their tresses clipped the day before. "Nick is my good friend and his dad has cancer and my grandpa has cancer," Jonathan said. "If they have to lose their hair, then why not us, also." Two parents, four teachers and Principal Travis Haynes also shed locks. "The show of support for Nick is just great," said Paul Miller, 44, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2005. The cancer quickly spread through his lungs, liver, kidneys, adrenal glands and brain. "I might not be here, and knowing he has this support is wonderful," Miller said. Nick's sixth-grade teacher, Amy Blain, began organizing the head-shaving party in December. Blain, who had her hair trimmed, on Monday, was awed by number of haircut recipients. "I'm trying not to cry," said Blain, who shaved heads in a courtyard outside her classroom along with Miller, his wife, Wendy, the principal and parent Brian Ilten. Miller, a Southern California Edison lineman, has had a large group of friends and family praying for him. Eight friends from the First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton shaved their heads on Saturday. Read more about their show of support by clicking here. "We just think this is incredible," Wendy Miller said
