Schools approved by the New Jersey Department of Education are available in both counties for pre-schoolers and school age students with developmental and/or multiple physical disabilities.
Individual programs are carefully developed for each student by a transdisciplinary team of teachers, therapists, nurses, social workers, instructional assistants and family members in conjunction with the placing district Child Study Team and the student’s Individual Education Plan.
A transdisciplinary team assesses needs, determines goals, and monitors and evaluates progress.
The progress of each student is assessed on a continual basis.
All members of the team work to ensure the maximum physical, educational and emotional development of the student.
Students with developmental and/or multiple physical disabilities may participate in the extended school year programs for two, three, four or five days per week.
Schedules are determined by the student’s educational team as documented in their Individualized Education plan.
The extended year programs are approved by the New Jersey Department of Education with funding typically provided by the referring local school district.
Certified teachers, physical, occupational and speech therapists, social workers, nurses, and art and music teachers work together to ensure the student’s growth and enjoyment through educational, recreational and special summer activities.
