St. Francis Academy
School Notes Overview:
We, the Missionary Franciscan Sisters, lay faculty, and staff of Saint Francis Academy of the Archdiocese of Newark are committed to continue the educational ministry of Jesus and dedicate ourselves to His fundamental command: "Go teach all nations". Our philosophy places a strong emphasis on service to others, personal spirituality focusing on strong moral convictions, self-discipline, academic achievement, respect for the dignity of all human beings, and a sense of responsibility for the care of God's gift of creation. The academic nature of Saint Francis Academy is characterized by an integration of the basic skills in all areas of the curriculum. Helping students meet the demands of an ever-changing and technological world requires ability to apprehend and the capacity to retain acquired knowledge. The faculty of Saint Francis Academy recognizes the individuality of every child and strives to encourage self- esteem based upon concrete achievement and progress. We develop and nurture the unique talents of each child. Children in SFA are valued. Parents, community, and church play an integral role in the educational process of St. Francis Academy helping to develop citizens who are responsible and accountable for their actions who can effectively function spiritually, politically economically, and socially in a just and democratic society. We believe this can be accomplished through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit guiding us to the attainment of our goals and in important decision-making policies....
