    Whole Foods Market, 47 Route 35 north, Middletown, is sponsoring a food drive for Project PAUL Nov. 7-22. The number of people seeking food support from Project PAUL has increased 25 percent in the last 12 months. Project PAUL operates one of the largest food pantries in Monmouth County, and maintains a thrift shop that is stocked with donations and run by volunteers.

    Mrs. Burns, 72, of Red Bank, died Aug. 3, 2009, at home. She resided in Avon, Red Bank and Middletown, prior to relocating to Red Bank. She taught kindergarten at St. Leo the Great School, Lincroft section of Middletown, from 1976 until retirement in 2004. Prior to that, she was a substitute teacher at St. James Elementary School, Red Bank, and Middletown Public Schools.

    Bring Sean home. That was the consensus felt during the candlelight vigil held to raise awareness about Sean Goldman as well as other kidnapped children around the world at the Riverside Garden Park in Red Bank. "The support here is heart warming," said Barry Goldman, who is the father of David Goldman and the grandfather of 9-year-old Sean.

    Pictured are Lianne Brock, of the Monmouth County Reading Council (MCRC), with Rebecca Bauer, one of the winners in the council's annual poetry contest for students in grades K- 8. Poetry winners recited their winning poems at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Holmdel. Each entry is an original poem written about a book that the student reads.

    Mrs. Mooney, 75, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, died May 24, 2009, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was a staff member at St. Leo The Great School, Lincroft, for more than 45 years, and named "Outstanding Catholic Educator" of 2000. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Mooney Jr. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John E.
