Borough school officials had two reasons to be cheerful: increased state aid, which will allow the district to introduce a budget Tuesday without an increase in local taxes and funding to expand the district's preschool program for 3-year-olds.

The Quakers of Shrewsbury Monthly Meeting, Religious Society of Friends, Sycamore Avenue at Broad Street (Route 35), Shrewsbury, are continuing the collection of nonperishable food items for the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Collections are 10 a.m.-noon the first Saturday of each month.
