CARLISLE -- Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets, through the A+ School Rewards program, donated more than $1.7 million to 1,492 public, private and parochial schools for the 2008-2009 school year, including schools in Franklin County.
Police: Suspect in custody after hostage standoff (Savannah Morning News)

A suspect is now in custody after a hostage standoff in the area of Laberta Boulevard at Montgomery Crossroad, said Savannah-Chatham metro police. St. James Catholic School is not involved with the incident, metro police said. Montessori Academy of Savannah is not involved either, said the school's Director Patti Glendye.
