The mission of the Montessori School of Huntsville (MSH) is to follow the principles of Montessori education in a nurturing community of families and teachers where children develop a love of learning and grow in a spirit of curiosity, cooperation and mutual respect. Our educational program is designed to develop each child’s potential, inspire academic excellence, nurture creativity and imagination, and awaken the human spirit. The main tenets of Montessori education focus on fostering a life-long love of learning while providing a solid foundation of understanding through hands-on experience and discovery. In other words, children at MSH learn by seeing, touching, feeling, smelling, tasting, and doing. Children in our Montessori classes learn at their own, individual pace from their choice of activities among many possibilities. Learning is an exciting process of discovery, leading to concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning. We stress completion and clean-up – all part of the process of “doing” and important life skills.
