School Notes:

  • Our school has worked to create a culture of respect where students learn to be compassionate and accepting towards themselves and others. When students are empowered to accept themselves, they then naturally begin to reach out to help others. We believe all students can be successful and find their way when they believe in themselves.

We have a strong community service program during which our students volunteer two hours a week at local schools, food banks and homeless shelter support programs. We also have a mentorship program for our 8th grade students, during which they spend a semester working alongside an expert in a career field of their choice.

School Reviews:

  • Recommended February 14,2013 - Challenging curriculum, attention to students'' social and emotional learning, good culture of respect, diversity, creativity and compassion. Every teacher is a master teacher and teachers from the community observe classes, students are excited and engaged, middle school program includes mentorships, overseas trips, digital arts, moving picture; Scholastic Magazine even did a story with a headline that said "The Kindest School on Earth!"*-Posted by Parent *
  • Recommended June 01,2012 - Wonderful school in so many ways. The middle school program has strong academics, Japanese (excellent), French, Spanish, Algebra, Moving Images, Digital Arts, Humanities, Science and English. Each instructor pushes the child to go above and beyond and to thoroughly challenge themselves. I''ve seen my children transform in just a few short months to new levels of ability and self esteem. The focus is on understanding our world and being an agent of change within it. The expeditionary learning model means they study a particular subject in depth throughout the year. In science that meant studying beaver dams, trips to the SF River, chemical analysis, taxonomy, etc. GREAT school!*-Posted by Parent *
