Options Education Center/Options in Education Inc.

2106 Cherokee Rd, Stockton, CA, 95205-0952
Options Education Center is a non-public, non-sectarian school certified by the California Department of Education and accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Options Education Center operates under contract with Special Education Local Planning Areas (SELPA) and school districts within San Joaquin County. The school is comprised of various specialized educational programs designed to meet the highly individualized needs of students who are currently qualified for or are already receiving special education services. Presently, the school is serving both males and females, ages nine through twenty. All programs are intended to provide intensive educational and behavioral interventions by offering a small student to staff ratio in a self-contained classroom. Providing educational basics, social skills training, and behavioral management techniques in order to meet the complex needs of emotionally disturbed, emotionally deprived, and mentally ill youth are the cornerstones of the institution. The experience of Options Education Center supports the belief that when at-risk students are approached "where they are" in regards to their achievement and needs, that environment, and positive staff to student ratios provide the needed tools to facilitate positive student growth and achievement.

School Notes:

  • Admission: Admission and enrollment into an OEC program is through a contracted School District (SELPA). All students must qualify for special education services under a specified category of specific learning disability, developmentally delayed, other health impaired, or emotional disturbance. Although students must be referred to OEC through their district of residence, once referred all students undergo an pre-enrollment meeting which is conducted by the school principal and any other identified school staff member which is considered necessary. At this time, the school's operational philosophy, policies and expectations are discussed in relation to the student's expressed needs. Any accomodations and/or modifications which are required prior to the students 30 day placement review meeting should be identified and arranged at this time. Parents and students are also given an opportunity to ask questions and tour the facility to meet the perspective teachers.

Make Summer a Special Time! Make Summer a Special Time!
If you have children in private school, then you are most likely looking at three months, perhaps even longer, which you must fill with activities of one kind or another during the long summer break.

Are You Liable? Are You Liable?
Is your DEL key about to get gaveled? It doesn't matter whether you teach in a public or private school setting. You expose yourself to legal risks every single day on the job.
