The Green Chimneys School program is designed for students who have been unsuccessful in a traditional educational setting and who require a small, structured and therapeutically supportive setting. The NYC Board of Education established a GED preparation program at Green Chimneys’ Gramercy Residence at Ungar House. The program, named after lesbian poet Audre Lorde, provides high school equivalency diploma instruction and college/career counseling. Many of the school’s students have not done well in mainstream schools because of gender identity or sexual orientation issues. NEW FAIRFIELD -- Town resident Robin Culler sparked curiosity when she chose a book about sharks for her speech and language arts students to use at Green Chimneys School and treatment center in Brewster, N.Y. The questions the students asked about sharks compelled her to do more research.

PUTNAM LAKE - The dead goat bearing an insulting message that was found last week in front of Assemblyman Greg Ball's home was later disposed of by the town Highway Department and reclaimed a day later by state police.
