In December 1970, a debate raged over whether Westport should enroll in Project Concern, a program to bus minority children to town schools. No girl deserves to be called a "slut." Dividing "sluts" into the innocent and guilty reinforces the idea that male sexuality is normal while female sexuality is deviant at worst, defiant at best.
