BRANDON YI,a student in the Rainbow Room at Jowonio School, 3049 E. Genesee St., Syracuse, rides his trike Friday at the grand opening of Trike Town. The playground has a 400-foot, circle-eight track which loops over a bridge and through a tunnel while passing by a child-sized village, natural bog and country barn. - Preschool Special (Syracuse New Times)

As it approaches middle age, the Jowonio school is looking ever younger. What began as a hippie experiment in do-it-yourself education 40 years ago (hey, kinda like The New Times !) has since evolved into an inclusionary preschool for 160 children served by 100 staff.
