School Notes Overview: |
New Horizons Elementary school was founded in 1983 by a group of parents and three of the current faculty members. The mission of the school is to provide educational opportunities designed to foster self-direction, personal responsibility and life-long learning. Learning is a three-part equation with teachers, parents and students sharing the responsibility equally. Faculty members strive to be sensitive to the strengths and weaknesses of their students and make it a priority to communicate frequently with parents or guardians. In addition to monitoring homework and other class assignments, parents are asked to serve on committees, chaperone field trips, assist with school fund-raising efforts and participate in school “clean-up” days. ...read more
